A Brief History

Sophie Mayer (b. 1980, Bristol, UK) is a writer, consultant and strategist. 

Sophie was a founder of the collective and creative agency The Adventures Of (2014 - 2018). The Adventures Of worked with entertainment and lifestyle partners such as NIKE, Asics, Netflix, Google, MTV, Audible, Sonos and RIMOWA.

As a strategist, Sophie has worked on projects for World AIDS Day, The Independent Electoral Committee, Asics, Netflix, Audible, Google, and many others. From 2011 - 2013, she was the Innovation Director of VCCP Berlin. She was named one of Business Punk's 100 Most Creative People in Business and served as a panel member of the 3% Conference in New York and London, aimed at bringing more visibility to women in the communication industry.

Sophie’s essays and interviews have appeared in publications including Berlin Film Journal, Berlinale, ACUD Macht Neu and Mister Twister, where she contributed as the magazine’s Editor-at-Large from 2014 - 2018. 

Sophie holds a B.A. in English Literature and Film from The University of Witwatersrand. Previously having represented South Africa in field hockey at The Commonwealth Games in 2002 and The World Cup in 2003.
